About Me

Hi, my name is Alexander Sigler (Xander) and I'd like to think that I could call myself a developer!

I started back in 2013 with an amazing game called Minecraft, I was in love with the game and when I found out what you could accomplish by learning to program with it, a fire was lit under my ass to consume as much knowledge as possible. For the next few years Java because my bread and butter, making plugins, mods, and minigames for everything related to Minecraft.

This gave me a beautiful start into programming which gave me a good edge when I went to college in 2015 for a Computer Engineering Major and a Computer Science Minor. I enjoyed all the time I spent in college, and it gave me a new perspective on using microcontrollers and low-level development. It allowed me to broaden my knowledge about so many different spheres in technology and am greatly appreciative of all my friends and professors who helped me on this path.

Unfortuntely I chose a really bad time to graduate... right in the middle of 2020, which meant I had the wonderful COVID Zoom graduation. Thankfully I interviewed for and accepted a job from CoStar Group while I was in school and I had a wonderful position lined up for me once I was out. Although I had zero experience with .NET, my boss was amazing and took me in and gave me many opportunities to learn quickly and prove myself throughout my career.

On the side I love tinkering with everything, ranging from writing firmware for FPGAs all the way to working with AWS. My current project right now is setting up a home lab (maybe I'll write a post on it) as my own personal server just to be able to mess around, and if you can actually believe it this entire blog is hosted on that server. Just threw a nice reverse proxy in front of it and here we are!

Thanks for taking some time out of your day to read this, if you are ever interested in learning more about me or any projects, or believe I can offer any advice in any way to you, please feel free to drop me an email below!

About this site

Alexander Sigler's Blog is a journey documenting the trials and errors of his programming life. This is a consolidation of all the random bits of knowledge I've accrued over the years, and the steps I've taken to figure it all out... no matter how much I don't actually know.

I got annoyed having documents on my PC with all the steps I did and my scatter-brained documentation so I figured I'd try my best to publish it to a single place so that I can revisit it when needed, and others can benefit if they ever stumble across this page.

I hope whatever you find here helps you on your journey!
